The-Empty-Room
Mission Statement
The-Empty-Room was formed through the desire to make a difference in the lives of those who have realized a parent's worst nightmare… the Loss of a Child. Although we will never get over our loss, know in your heart we can and will get through our grief. We know that no one's loss is greater or less, just different. We come together as a group dedicated to sharing experiences, listening without judging, offering support, compassion, love, understanding, memories, tears, laughter and…. A glimmer of hope for a brighter tomorrow.
"Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal".
(From a Headstone in Ireland)
I want to thank all those who have participated in The-Empty-Room for the past 23 months. Also many thanks to Russ, from Burket Truby Funeral Home for his support. Oakmont Presbyterian Church has provided us with a safe haven. It has provided such a comfortable, safe place that the group has grown so much we have decided to expand to a second meeting. You can find the information under Meeting Location. It is hard to believe it has been that long. The strength, comfort, support and bond that has been built between us is more than I could have ever imagined.
I have learned from Dr. Coyne that GRIEF HAS NO TIME FRAME, NO STEPS, OR NO BOUNDARIES. In your heart you know YOU WILL NEVER GET OVER YOUR LOSS, but find comfort in knowing you will get through your grief. You must believe that you have the inner strength inside of you to get through it.
Dr Coyne has written a book titled "You don't have to Like It, But You Do have to Live It". It can be purchased from her website www.barbaracoyne.com.
